JANUARY 30, 2010: THE 13TH ANNUAL "SEASON FOR NONVIOLENCE"
Greetings, family!
The 13th annual "Season For Nonviolence" is upon us again. A season for Nonviolence, January 30 - April 4, is a national 64-day educational, media, and grassroots campaign dedicated to demonstrating that nonviolence is a powerful way to heal, transform, and empower our lives and our communities. Inspired by the 50th and 30th memorial anniversaries of Mahatma Gandhi and Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., this international event honors their vision for an empowered, nonviolent world. For more information, please visit http://www.seasonsfornonviolence.com/.
My commitment this year is to choose a "song of the day," from among my original compositions, posting its lyrics to my blog and singing/playing it throughout the day, both alone and with my students and fellow musicians.
I am also committed to performing in public at least once per week, in honor of the SNV, be it at an open mic or a professional engagement and I will post these appearances to my calendar.
Finally, I will continue to host my monthly "Peace Through Music" gatherings and will make a concerted effort to post video footage to my Youtube account.
So, thanks for coming along for the ride, and have a wonderful season!
In Harmony,
Janis
